Quickstart

Set up your first agent and run your first check in a few minutes.

Before you start

  • A browser wallet such as MetaMask or Rabby. Mobile wallets also work through WalletConnect.
  • The wallet that owns your agent. Merlin uses it to identify you; it never asks to move funds.

1. Connect your wallet

Open the dashboard and click Connect wallet. Choose your wallet and approve the connection. Merlin supports Ethereum mainnet.

Connecting only shares your public address. You will never be asked to sign a transaction to use the dashboard.

2. Set your rules

Go to Rules in the sidebar and set:

  • Daily spend cap: the most ETH your agent can spend in a day.
  • Max trade size: the largest single trade allowed.
  • Token allowlist: the tokens your agent may buy, separated by commas.
  • Block high-risk contracts: leave this on unless you have a reason not to.

Click Save rules.

3. Test a trade

Go to Test a trade. Pick a token, type an amount and click Run check. Merlin shows Allow or Block and the result of each rule. Try a few:

  • UNI, 0.25 ETH: allowed. Every rule passes.
  • UNI, 0.8 ETH: blocked. It is over the 0.5 ETH max trade size.
  • MOON: blocked. It is not on your allowlist and its contract is high risk.
  • GHOST: blocked. Its source code is not verified.

4. Review your activity

Every check appears in Activity and on the Overview page, with the time, token, size, decision and reason.

5. Know where the kill switch is

On the Rules page, turn on Kill switch to block every trade from your agent instantly. The header badge changes from Agent active to Agent paused.
